I chose the Drama and Theatre course at Godalming College because of its reputation as a high achieving department. The texts we perform and examined are advanced and engaging, allowing us to explore mature theatre with other, likeminded practitioners. We are treated like professional practitioners. We are given freedom to develop our craft, while always having aid from friendly and helpful teachers available whenever it's needed. The course has helped me develop skills that will be useful in higher education and beyond. Not only practically, but theoretically we have learned how to analyse theatre at a high level.
My favourite part of college has been the opportunities we are given outside of lessons. There is an endless selection of extra-curricular activities that range from music performance to being part of a sports team and beyond. As a student with dyslexia, the learning support department has made gaining the support I need simple.
The PAN enrichment is a must-do at Godalming if you love performing. Not only are two big productions put on each year, which are amazing fun to work on and perform in, but there are workshops with drama schools and practitioners. Miniature productions, like script-in-hand performances, are also put on throughout the year, meaning there is always something to get involved with. It’s a brilliant way to connect with the department, whether or not you do a performance subject.
